Before my first arrival to Egypt I read on the internet that wearing a red lipstick on the streets of Cairo was a big no-no.
Now I will be coming soon again to Egypt and seeing that I really love wearing red lipstick I wanted to ask you guys if this was really true.
Don't Egyptian women wear red lipstick or lipstick in general? And are the woman who do wear it considered sluts, putting it bluntly?

Normal red - dark red - all shades of red
I am not talking about wearing it everyday
But is it common?
I remember seeing Arabian women in Cairo who had really theatrical make up on and that seemed to be ok by everybody and I am not talking about that amount of make up at all!
So is it ok?
Does it attract unwanted attention from men? (by the way, that is not my aim)

If is not too much I think it's ok. Any make-up should be just decent.

In my opinion many Egyptian women overdoing it when it comes to putting on make-up; it just looks 'too much'.
Anthropos, just use the make-up you used to wear back home and don't forget - less is always better. In your case you are going to attract much attention as a foreigner anyway; other guys will try to make eye contact with you and more even with your boyfriend next to you.
Enjoy your stay! How long will you be in Egypt?

My egyptian husband loves me in red lipstick, in Cairo or anywhere.
If it pleases you and him go for it.
By the way, I don't like it on me, but he does, so I like to wear it for him sometimes.
