Arte is showing a portrait of Naguib Mahfouz tonight at 12.30 a.m. The film has been made in 2000 and is being broadcasted again on occasion of the writer's death.
Der Film - er ist weder ein klassisches Porträt noch ein Starinterview - lässt einen möglichen Wandel der ägyptischen Gesellschaft ahnen, die sich zwischen Fundamentalismus, religiösem Konservatismus, Wirtschaftsliberalismus und den zahlreichen Folgen der Globalisierung bewegt. Ohne einen scharfen Gegensatz zwischen dem Altmeister und seinen Gegnern herausarbeiten zu wollen, stellt der Film zwei Welten einander gegenüber: die literarische und reale Welt Nagib Mahfus' und die der Ägypter und Ägypterinnen, die ein anderes Ägypten - oder eine andere Art, es literarisch zu gestalten - am Horizont erscheinen sehen.
Wie in Mahfus' berühmter "Kairoer Trilogie" geht es in "Nagib Mahfus: Ein Schriftsteller am Nil" um einen Generations- und Zeitenwechsel. Um mit Nadine Gordimer (in "Schreiben und Sein") zu sprechen: "Mahfus vertritt die postkoloniale Welt, die Welt Altägyptens und des überlieferten Afrikas, die von Elend und Glanz der ausländischen Besatzung geprägt sind ... Aber sein Werk umfasst die entgegengesetzten Pole der gegenwärtigen Welt: das Engagement und die Entfremdung, die ganz sicher einmal als Merkmale unseres Jahrhunderts angesehen werden." her name is Dalia there is two choices. either she is half egyptian and half german or she learnt German and travelled to germany some days, she liked to be german, then she kept believing herself. this is 3o2det ilkhawagah[ foreign psycho disease]
