EVIDENCE OF BUTTON HOLE CIRCUMCISION IN ANCIENT EGYPT
Button hole circumcision also called double circumcision. Is a painful circumcision procedure where the foreskin is completely cut off and the top remaining cut shaft skin is pulled over a hole is inserted on top and the penis head is pushed through the hole Inorder to create a lower hanging skin at the bottom, after that the initiates are put into isolation because this type of circumcision takes longer to heal, a period of btwn 1 and 3 months is assigned for healing and initiation rituals. Western Anthropologist mistake this type of circumcision for partial circumcision because they think the foreskin remains. But they are wrong because the foreskin is completely cut off. Strangers and all people not belonging to the tribe are barred from attending the ceremony, this has created alot of speculations concerning the procedure .
Although most African tribes practice normal round cut circumcision.Button hole circumcision is practiced by African greatlakes tribes such as; Kalenjin, Maasai Datooga,Dassanech,Kikuyu,Meru,Tiriki e.t.c and was also practiced in ancient egypt.
