Kirikou is an animated film inspired by West African folk tales.
It has also been made into a musical with live actors. In the musical version the sorceress Karaba has been played by Malian singer and actress Fatoumata Diawara

The film became somewhat controversial in UK and USA because of some nudity.

Eventually, the British Film Institute gave the film a few screenings in the U.K., and in the U.S. specialist distributor Artmattan released it to a small but appreciative African-American audience.
